Let’s make one thing clear: nothing is ever going to be completely zero waste. But that’s not to say we should just give up on the whole idea! After all, having many people do zero waste imperfectly is far better than having a few do it perfectly.
That’s where we come in. We’ve taken the guesswork out of making the shift to zero waste!
Every product at The Peeled Pantry is carefully chosen to reflect our values of minimal packaging, environmental sustainability, and local sourcing (where possible). When you browse our store, you can feel confident that each and every product was already vetted for its sustainability ‘creds’. And we take it seriously, too: if we can’t source a product that meets our requirements, we’d rather not list any at all.

Reusable Packaging & Bottle Returns
All of our liquid products (soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc) come in reusable glass bottles and have a deposit value. We use a circular business model - when you are done with your bottles we take them back, clean + sanitize them, and reuse them — no single use packages! Our bottles come with a cap closure, which also means you're not buying a pump each time either.

Clean Ingredients
Being safe for both the environment and our bodies is very important to us. That's why we source only high-quality ingredients and strive to include natural, biodegradable ingredients in our soaps. Furthermore, the Peeled Pantry line is free of sulphates, parabens or phthalates.
Plastic-Free Delivery
Whether you pick local delivery or shipping when shopping from our online store, you can bet that we process your order plastic-free. Local deliveries are made in durable paper bags and shipping boxes are recyclable cardboard (no foil or embellishments). We also only use paper-based products for all slips, labels and tapes.

Local Economy
We partner with local/Canadian vendors, wholesalers and retailers that also focus on low-waste processing. We source in bulk reusable or cardboard boxes wherever possible and take pride in our glass bottle return network.
Sourced from North America
Most of our ingredients in our Peeled Pantry line are sourced from North America. Our essential oils and plant extracts originate from distinct regions around the globe.
Made in Canada
Our Peeled Pantry products are manufactured in Ontario and processed & bottled right here in Toronto, Ontario. By keeping our sourcing local, we keep the carbon footprint of our products as low as possible.
Sustainable Energy
Renewable energy powered operations by 2022
The bottle return program is exclusive to The Peeled Pantry. We take in bulk orders, process the new and used bottles and refill in-house. We pledge to have all of our in-house operations sourced by 100% renewable electricity in 2022 through renewable credits. This furthers the development of renewable infrastructure across Canada and greening the Ontario grid.
Emission-free shipping and deliveries by 2025
Carbon emissions in transportation is a major contributor to the climate crisis. Our goal is to provide all deliveries carbon-free by 2025 by using electrical vehicle for local deliveries and purchasing carbon credits from all shipments made by mail.
